by Stephanie Blye

Also known as Dress to Impress, the expression was first used by author John Malloy in the 70s and it refers to the act of tailoring one's attire, grooming, and entire appearance in order to make a positive first impression during a job interview. Dress for success implies also that you should maintain a neat professional look at work in order to aid career advancement possibilities. Even if dressing properly will not get you a job by itself, it will offer you a certain competitive edge and will definitely help you to make a great first impression. The expression Dress to Impress is strongly connected to the term of Corporate Culture.
