I intend to start applying for jobs and I have built myself a cover letter in this regard. I've read some things about how to write one and here's what I got in the end:
Dear PERSON,
My outgoing personality, variety of experience, and my soon to be completed education make me a strong candidate for a position as JOB HERE.
I will be graduating in May 2007 from Kansas State University with a B.S in Computer System Technology, A.S. in Web Development, and Minor in Business. In addition to my education, I gained responsibility by supporting myself throughout college. The job positions I held enhanced my skills in areas such as communication, personal relations, customer service and satisfaction, and problem solving. I am a creative individual and can think ‘outside the box’ to overcome challenges in the workplace.
I am planning on relocating at my own expense to the Kansas City area in the near future. I will follow up this letter with a phone call to see if I can arrange a time to meet with you.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
MY NAME
Sooo....what do you think? Do I have any chances? |

I think it sounds very good for a fresher's cover letter. You have expressed very well your intentions, you have displayed your situation, the fact that you're about to graduate and relocate and so on and so on.
Apart from the fact that you did not specified exactly how you would become useful to that employer, the cover letter looks just fine to me. |

Is it alright to say you are about to graduate with a BS? You haven't graduated yet....is that ok?
Five years ago few job seekers used to write cover letters. The CV was enough...Can't believe I've fallen behind |
