I'm 24 and am looking for a new job in a different sector to what I've worked in for the past 4 years.
What I'd like to know is, because my previous work bears no relation to the type of work I'm hoping to do but I've done some voluntary work within the sector, how should I make this clear in my CV?
I was thinking I could maybe type the voluntary work in bold type so that it stands out more? Do you think this is a good idea?
Also, I have done an OU course that's related to the type of work I want to do. I'd like to work with underprivileged children and have done voluntary work in a refuge for women coming out of violent relationships. The two are connected. But my job so far has been as manageress of a shop where there's no connection at all.
Any advice would be good to have.

There are those skills called transferable, the ones which can be transferred to any job's profile, just because they are related, and there are the foundation skills, which are specific to absolutely any type of job. It is those that you must stress upon in your situation:
