Personal Information Area

by Stephanie Blye

Name, address, phone number, e-mail, web site - no other information is requested in this area of your CV. If you are going to change your location, mention your current address up to the moment it is available (i.e. until the 15th of November 2007).

Let's say you are currently still employed and you cannot answer your phone during work hours. Don't worry, you can mention a period of time when you can be reached for sure during a day (i.e. I can be reached by phone every day from 6 pm to 10 pm ). You can also mention another number (your home phone maybe) where you can be left messages.

If you choose to mention a personal web site address, be sure that the format of the site looks professional enough not to spoil your chances of actually being contacted for an interview.

As the content of this site is concerned, it may contain your resume, some examples of your previous works, achievements (a portfolio), personal photos (decent enough) etc.

Optional things to mention in the personal information area.

Date of birth and marital status. These two pieces of information are optional. If you think that revealing your age or your marital status may become a criteria of discrimination, you might want not to include them in your personal info section.

Things you should NOT include in your personal information area.

There are some things which have more chances to become criteria of discrimination and these are your religion, politic preferences and sexual orientation. It is advisable not to say anything about the above mentioned in order to avoid any unpleasant situations.
