Where Can I Find A Second Job?
by Stephanie Blye
Sometimes, speaking about finding a second job can sound cynical and beyond realism. Handling one job proves to be hard enough. And yet, statistics show that a relatively high percentage of employees are working for more than one employers. It is clear that people are looking for a second job out of necessity.
So where exactly should you look for an extra job?
In order to determined the place you should look for a second occupation, you should first establish the criteria this job should correspond to:
Your second job should be part-time/flexible
- it's little probable that you could work 7 days a week,
16 hours a day for a long time. If we add the time you spend on transportation, you realize that with two full-time jobs you would have only 3-4 hours of rest per day, which is not realistically possible for more than 4-5 weeks. The risk of getting sick increases considerably (fatigue, stress, digestive system diseases etc.) which could lead to your losing both jobs.
You should be paid according to the results you have
- nobody searches for a second job just for pleasure. You search extra work to gain extra income because you probably cannot handle bills in an effective way. So yo should definitely get paid for the results you obtain with your second job because, due to the fact
that you won't be working full-time, you won't get paid a full salary, thus you should come to an understanding with the second employer.
Your second job should be placed somewhere close to the place you live in or the place your first job is located in
- you may probably find not one second job, but two or even three. But a day is still made of 24 hours and if you spend 3 of
them on the road from one job to the other, where's the efficiency?
The complexity of your second job should be lower that the one of your current job
- just think about the fact that feeling fatigue is gathering and if your second job is very soliciting, you will end not being able to perform it. No employer pays for the effort. They only pay for the results!
